Prints are coming!
A few years back I thought it would be a great idea to sell prints! But I don’t think I fully estimated the time it would take to do. I decided to print them myself as I have all the tools here in my studio. But several things happened:
My biggest problem - the printer jammed - which cost me so much money!
The paper I use for prints is of the best quality so that it truly represents my artwork and so that it’s archival - meaning prints of my artwork will last for many years to come and keep the vibrancy of when they were first printed. But my printer chewed up so many pieces of paper and it was heartbreaking! I’m a perfectionist, so everything which comes out of my studio has to be as perfect as absolutely possible. I threw away so many pieces of (expensive!) paper, which really put me off of doing prints at all.
Time - time was my next issue.
Running an art business is time consuming. It’s not just the hours that go into drawing portraits and wildlife pieces, it’s the administration time behind the scenes. I spend hours outside of what would be considered normal working hours on emails, accounting, social media - the list goes on. So adding in an extra element where hours of the day would be assigned to prints just wasn’t feasible.
But, I have finally found a solution…
The Big News!
The exciting news, as the title would suggest is that prints are coming!
I have spent what feels like years researching ways to do this and I have found the most amazing printers, who print my work so perfectly (the quality is better than if I’d done it myself and that’s saying something when it’s coming from a perfectionist)!
They will also pack the artwork beautifully, so that prints are packaged in archival materials and are completely protected from any issues which could arise from knocks and bumps in the post. I have ordered a few sample prints and I have been so incredibly impressed, not only with how they have been printed but with all the attention to detail when they have been packaged up.
This has fixed both of my previous issues with offering prints of my work - so on Friday 3rd May my first print will be available. I will be emailing everyone subscribed to my newsletter to let you know when the print is on my shop and available to purchase!
Platinum Jubilee Corgi
I wanted to launch the collection with something special, so the first print will be of my Platinum Jubilee Corgi - the first piece of artwork I put up in my studio after the renovation works (my studio flooded last November). I created this piece in honour of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and her love of Corgi’s to mark the Platinum Jubilee in June 2022. It is so vibrant and I have always been so proud of this one! I can’t wait to see it on the walls of many of your homes.
Only 100 copies will be printed of this one; each print will be assigned an addition number, which number one will you get?
