Preparing for Christmas

It’s only 109 days until Christmas, when you think about it - that’s not very long!

I started to prepare for Christmas in August when I started working on Christmas card designs, the weather had turned a bit cold and I was back to wearing woolly jumpers! It almost felt like December was only just around the corner. As I sat there drawing Christmas trees and baubles and snowy scenes I almost put on a Christmas film on to watch in the background, but managed to stop myself!

The interesting bit came when I got the Christmas decorations out to take photographs of my Christmas cards; my four year old piped up with ‘is it Christmas now Mummy?’, it must have been quite confusing for her! She then drew me a picture of a little girl getting her presents from the Christmas tree and I saw her put on the Christmas Chronicles film to watch on the iPad! I’ve convinced her now that it isn’t quite Christmas just yet!

But the Christmas portrait rush will be starting soon, so I do need to think about Christmas for the children while there’s time as Christmas proved last year to be my busiest time. Indeed, I think most pet portrait artists will tell you that Christmas is a little bit of a mad rush and their busiest time of the year.

Have you started to think about Christmas yet? If you’re looking for cards then do have a look at this years collection in my shop; I’m very pleased with the designs this year! It is also the first time you can purchase them directly from my website, which is so exciting for me!

Also, if you are thinking of booking a portrait as a gift, please do this as soon as possible as I do think the spaces will fill up quickly - I find everyone starts to think about it in October and then the slots are mostly all gone!

Sorry to mention the ‘C’ word so soon!
