Hello and welcome to Felicity Franks Portraits, if you’d like to know a bit about me and how I started this business then please read on. If you’re more interested in seeing examples of my work you can find the gallery here, there’s information on how to commission a portrait here, the price list is here and you can contact me here.
My love of art started from a young age, I entered a county primary school collage competition to create the best collage made out of torn up newspaper pages and I won! The prize was a life size cutout of Aladdin (I loved it - my Mother did not!), but in that moment I realised I was a creative person and a love of art was born.
Throughout school I loved (and like to think I excelled) in art, though due to personal circumstances did not take it through to art school. Instead I spent over a decade working in creative marketing and graphic design roles while drawing and painting as much as I could in my spare time. After the birth of my second child I decided that it was time and I was at the level I wanted to be and wanted to give it a go and make my passion my career - so here we are - Felicity Franks Portraits was born.
I work from a studio at my home in Somerset creating pastel and charcoal portraits from digital photographs. I love to know a little about the subject I’m drawing so I can try and convey this in the drawing or painting. There’s nothing more lasting than a portrait of a most beloved pet or your child at a special age. Portraits make incredible gifts for a Birthday or Christmas and I will work with you throughout the process to choose the best photo and make creating your portrait a special experience for you. I genuinely love what I do and I think this is conveyed in the finished painting - a lot of love goes into my work.
